CHST 750 - American Jesus3 credits This course examines how Jesus is represented through word and image in a variety of different contexts and time periods in the United States. It invites you to think critically about how representations of Jesus have been deployed in the United States, by whom, and for what purposes. How is our understanding of Jesus shaped by our particular social contexts and concerns? What political, theological, and other cultural assumptions and realities lay beneath the surface of each representation? Prerequisites, CHST 502 and 503.
